The second car developed entirely by BMW M, after the BMW M1 in 1978.

I didn't like the BMW XM until I saw its elephant trunk with Chinese eyes. I'm from the era of the BMW X6, so it was about whether BMW needed another SUV as an addition to its current crop. The truth is, they're not really similar; the XM without knowing the specs, has this look of a high tech electrical car, but still makes the sound of a VW Golf R. So, "where will I refill this thing"? That got on my mind in passing.

The history of the BMW XM it's in celebration of the BMW M brand, by being the first M only vehicle since the famous and legendary BMW M1. The second car developed entirely by BMW M, after the BMW M1 in 1978. The plug-in hybrid electric full-size luxury crossover SUV, 5-door SUV, Front-engine, all-wheel drive (M xDrive) and it's related to the BMW X7.

From R 3 400 000 or $179 853,37, it comes with three driving modes. The HYBRID driving mode as the default setting gives the full system output of combustion engine and electric motor in tandem. There's the Comfort setting, where the generator function feeds additional power into the high-voltage battery. In the ELECTRIC driving mode, the BMW XM uses only the power from the electric drive system, the eCONTROL mode offers the option to maintain the charge of the high-voltage battery, charged within 4:25 hours from zero to 100%, with a heat management reducing charging time.

It comes with a classically high-revving V8 engine accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 s, reaching top speed of 250 km/h and a top speed on electric power of 140 km/h. Fuel consumption, combined (WLTP): 1.6-1.5 l/100 km, as compared to a R15000 delivery motorcycle, BMW XM it's awesome. That's just for driving electric and with a petrol plug-in hybrid on a 4.4 L S68 V8 twin-turbo or a 3.0 L B58 Straight-6 twin-turbo (50e). The power output starts from 350 kW (476 PS; 469 hp) to 550 kW (748 PS; 738 hp) for the XM Label Red. Battery capabilities are 29.5 kWh (gross), 25.7 kWh (net/usable) lithium-ion with an electric range of 82–88 km (51–55 mi) and an electric power consumption, combined (WLTP) of 30.1-28.9 kWh/100km on an 8 speed gearbox.

The interior has a twin screen dashboard combining large driver’s information readout with a 14.9-inch touchscreen. Inclined vintage leather, front seats designed entirely around an active driving experience with a selection of extravagant colors and materials; and a rear-seat backrest that extends well into the sides of the cabin. High-quality cushions with soft quilted Alcantara covers. BMW Accessories range, allows things like tablets to be easily and securely fixed to the front seat backrests. USB-C ports are also integrated into the backrests to charge these devices. A separate control panel allows rear passengers to select their desired temperature independently.

The focus in this vehicle had to be about the performance more than anything else, because most features are mostly familiar as apparently some can be found on the M1 and M2. And what's with BMW's obsession with the 250km top speed?
