The Midsize Jeep Wrangler 2024, from a series of compact (two doors) and mid-size (four doors) rear and four-wheel drive off-road SUVs manufactured since 1986. The predecessor of the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) produced by Willys, The Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. Currently in its fourth generation, picking a Wrangler depends on personal needs as it's highly customisable, however vehicle reviews recommend Willys as it "easily satisfies".

Shorter drivers will likely have to rely on the pillar-mounted grab handle to get in, for a price tag between R633,410.88 and R1,746,412.29 for the trims and other options you can get; starting from a Jeep Wrangler sport all the way to a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392.

Some changes in history as all Wrangler models continued to use a separate body and frame, a fold-flat windshield and can still be driven without doors, with standard open bodies and removable hard or soft tops. The Wrangler series was specifically redesigned to be safer and more comfortable on-road, to attract more daily drivers, by upgrading its suspension, drivetrain, and interior as compared to the CJ lin. The suspension on all Wranglers included trackbars and anti-roll bars, and, from the 1997 TJ onwards, front and rear coil springs instead of the previous leaf springs. 2004 brought long-wheelbase versions, called Wrangler Unlimited. 2004 - 2006 models were longer versions with 2 doors and automatic transmission-equipped the 2004 “Unlimited” versions were sold. In 2005 both an automatic and manual 6-speed (NSG-370) were offered. In 2007, the long-wheelbase Wranglers got the four-door models, offering over 20 in (508 mm) more room.

The latest Jeep Wrangler 2024's ride can be incapable on uneven roads and its steering needs constant correction just to keep it heading in a straight line (the steering being slow, especially on the Rubicon trim). But it comes with a 24-hour roadside assistance in case of losing control and a cover for repairs or replacement of factory-installed parts on 3 years/60,000 km basic warranty with 5 years/100,000 km repairs or replacement of factory-installed parts powertrain limited warranty. Jeep offers many more powertrains options than its rivals, including a plug-in hybrid variant and a 470-hp V-8 that's exclusive to the Rubicon 392 model.

2024 has an updated grille and with no fewer than 10 new wheel designs. It's accompanied by a new 12.3-inch (easy to see in all lighting conditions and responds quickly to your touches) infotainment display is standard across the board and replaces the smaller 5.0- and 7.0-inch screens from last year's Wranglers. The onboard navigation system includes mapping for over 2000 trails, with the ability to download even more. With a driver assist system. Jeep offers the basics, such as blind-spot warning and adaptive cruise control, but these are optional for nearly every Wrangler trim level.

Jeep has integrated a more robust active noise-cancellation feature to help quiet the cabin for phone calls. The first- and second-row side curtain airbags are now standard on every trim except for the base Sport. Power-adjustable front seats are now available on the Wrangler, too. The Rubicon trim gets some upgrades such as an available factory-installed front winch and a stronger Dana 44 rear axle that Jeep says is better suited for installing larger-size tires. It also helps facilitate an increase in maximum towing capacity.

It's ranked 17th in the Midsize SUVs, as it competes with Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender and Toyota 4Runner. The 2024 Jeep Wrangler starts with a 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6 that can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine is optional and teams up with an electric motor to provide additional low-end power, but this powertrain is only available with the eight-speed automatic. The Wrangler can also be equipped with a 3.6-liter V-6 with a similar hybrid assist, a 375-hp plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain, or a 6.4-liter V-8.

A part-time four-wheel drive is standard across the range for off-roads and is controlled by a lever on the center console. Tests have shown that a two-door Wrangler Sport with the V-6 and the six-speed manual transmission sprinted from 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and the Rubicon model and the High Tide model—both of which carry additional weight -- weren't as quick as the others in tests.

Note: there's additional weight on Rubicon models, which makes it even slower to reach 100km/h; but it is still found that the "steering" wheel it's still slow on uneven roads, even though the Wrangler is rated highly offroad. That's weird; I guess it's not for everyday driving or it might be for experienced drivers and preferably for off-road.

Another thing I found weeks ago was, Jeep Wrangler ranked 4th place in the list of slowest depreciating cars in the last 5 years? With the current Wrangler being ranked 17th among the Midsize SUVs, now I wonder what makes a car! I thought it was about valuable cars.
