MAZDA BT-50 with a mechanism designed to stop a car, even if the engine is accelerating.

It starts with reactivating Facebook accounts and finding an advert about the Mazda CX-5 with a price tag from R470 000. Most decent cars or brands recently seem expensive and over a million. During research for the post "the value of cars' ' Mazda was one the brands being suggested as a brand that regains its resale value quickly. It was surprising that it could be this cheap, under R500 000.

So, why not write about it! The post was about how the "CX 5 can't be beaten in power, the CX 3 can't be beaten in fuel economy and torque delivery". Well, I remembered the Mazda 3, and had searched "Mazda", and found MAZDA BT-50; I didn't think that I'd seen it before until more pictures popped up.

The Mazda BT-50 was revealed in October 2010 at the Australian International Motor Show; designed by a Mazda team based at Ford Australia's design center in Melbourne, both Ford and Mazda worked independently. Only the windscreen, roof, and rear screen were or are common between the Ranger and BT-50. The latest it's available in three different models: Active, Dynamic, and Individual.

Starting at R630 400, for a 7-inch touchscreen display, standard with Android Auto™ & wireless Apple CarPlay®. As it comes with many safety features, you also get to have a brake Override Accelerator (BOA) - a software that automatically overrides a vehicle's throttle when both the brake and the accelerator are depressed at the same time. This mechanism is designed to stop a car, even if the engine is accelerating. A Roll Over Mitigation (ROM) - a method for reducing a risk of or avoiding a roll-over event of a vehicle. When the controller tries to regulate the roll angle, lateral load transfer is reduced and many other features including child safety.

The engine it's a 1.9 Litre in-line 4 cylinder 16 valve Diesel Manual 110kW - 6-Speed Manual 4X2 - ; EURO-2 and a Fuel Efficiency 7-8/100KM. What's on the back of my mind is whether the exterior really features a Lever Parking Brake? Mazda Southern Africa brochure included the Lever Parking Brake on the exterior content.
